Quicky Marks
1999The joy and frustration of student life are closely tied to grades. These are often laboriously calculated toward the end of a semester, usually to ease the anxiety surrounding upcoming report cards.
This software supported the management of an entire school semester and allowed for the straightforward entry of all grades. Grade averages were calculated instantly upon input, taking into account different weightings of partial grades. This made it easy to explore various “what-if” scenarios.
The program supported both the traditional German grading system from 1 to 6, including plus and minus distinctions, as well as the 0–15 point system used at the upper secondary (Abitur) level. Students could also store personal information and details about their school. All data files could optionally be protected with a password.
In addition to this application, several other programs were created during my school years, including a vocabulary trainer and, as part of an introductory course, a tool to support course selection for the secondary school.
